    I tried to install from source but the "make install" gave me an error about not finding "src/vamp/vamp-rubberband.cat" .
    After going into the src directory and doing "ln -s ../vamp ./" and "ln -s ../ladspa ./" I got a successful install (so it seems)

    Now compiling sonic-visualiser
